Battle of Brooklyn: An Eighteenth-Century American Faire
August 29, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
RESCHEDULED DUE TO RAIN – NOW HAPPENING ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 29TH 11AM-3PM
The Battle of Brooklyn, fought in 1776 on land that is now a part of Green-Wood, was the first battle of the American Revolution to occur after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. To honor those who bravely fought to defend the new republic and learn more about their lives and the world they lived in, join us for a family-friendly afternoon with reenactors, demonstrations, music, storytelling, and hands-on activities. Presented with our friends at Old Stone House, you won’t want to miss this exploration of America’s past.
Space is limited and tickets are required for adult entry. Tickets are not required for children under 12, but minors must be accompanied by an adult. This is an outdoor event, masks are strongly recommended regardless of vaccine status. Please follow directions/instructions from Green-Wood’s staff and ambassadors.
Free, suggested donation $5. When making a reservation, please consider a donation to Green-Wood so that we can continue to offer free and low cost programs throughout the year!
Check-back in early August for a full list of reenactors and demonstrations. The event requires attendees to walk over hilly and uneven terrain, proper footwear is recommended.
