Free Family Days
About
Drop in every third Saturday of the month between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to explore New York City’s oldest house together. Arrive by 1 p.m. for a unique hands-on making activity each month.
Seasonal activities inside the historic house and around the gardens include scavenger hunts, artifact investigation, gardening, self-guided exploration and hands-on activities.
Family Day is open to everyone. Activities are designed for families with kids ages 4 to 10. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No reservation required. Groups of 8 or more must contact us ahead of time at programs@wyckoffmuseum.org.

Preparing for your Visit
You can stop by and join us for activities anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on most family days. Please be sure to check our website and calendar for any schedule changes. Please dress for the weather as we offer outdoor activities in warmer months, including gardening, a farmer’s market, and outdoor games.
The museum has no stanchions and the structure, floors, and artifacts on view are very old and fragile. Prepare your children with how to behave in an historic house museum. We have three big museum rules we like to encourage:
- Keep our hands to ourselves. If we have permission to touch, we touch with care.
- Be respectful of other visitors, using indoor voices and calm bodies
- Stay together with you grown-up. Family Day is designed to encourage adults and children to explore and learn together.
Check out our Plan your Visit page for directions to the museum by public transportation and car. If you are taking public transportation, you will likely have to take a bus or be prepared to walk at least 15 minutes from the subway. We also list a few restaurants that are in walking distance of the museum.
Use this Social Narrative to help your children prepare for the visit.
