Farmhouse Family Day: Plant Pigments
September 15, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Start the school year off at the Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum for our Free Family Days & Farmers Market! Drop-in between 11am and 3pm for outdoor colonial games, seasonal activities, scavenger hunts and more! Join us in September as we tap into our inner creatives and cook up some natural dyes using plants found in everyday gardens. Starting at 1pm, we’ll explore the colorful ranges of plant-based dyes and experiment with creating patterns by twisting, folding, and wrapping our fabrics into different shapes. Visitors are invited to bring their own natural-based fabric scraps to experiment with. (Cotton and linen fabrics are best, as synthetic fabrics will not take dyes as easily.)
Explore inside the oldest house in New York City and tour the garden before stopping by the Farmers Market for organic Brooklyn grown produce.
Farmhouse Family Days are open to visitors of all ages and free to the public.
