Farmhouse Family Day: Gee’s Bend Quilts
February 17 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Join us in celebration of Black History month as we explore the history, patterns, and colors used in quilting in Gee’s Bend.
The residents of Gee’s Bend Alabama are direct descendents of enslaved Africans who through their innovative quilt making, created a tradition that established both political and economic empowerment. Join us in celebration of Black History month as we learn about the patterns, colors, and techniques, used in the Gee’s Bend quilting community. Together we will be creating a felt collage to explore the vibrant colors, and historical patterns of the quilt work of this historic community.
