Creative Homesteading: Putting the Farm to Bed

October 5, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

Experience Autumn on the Wyckoff Farm as Farmer Zach leads you through end-of-season tasks to make sure your garden has a restful Winter.

Topics that will be covered:

  • Seed Saving: this is the essential practice of collecting seeds from plants to be replanted next season
  • Mulching & Cover Cropping: techniques for protecting and replenishing your garden beds and boxes
  • Cool Weather Vegetables: identifying the best late-season crops for your garden
  • Honey bees: learn tips on how to winterize a hive plus a hands-on demonstration of processing beeswax into candles

Participants are also encouraged to bring seeds to exchange in our seed swap! Seeds are not the only thing we collect; stories of seasons passed and intentions from seasons to come are honored in this practice.
