Path Through History Self-Guided Audio Tour

October 9, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Explore NY’s oldest house at your own pace with a Self-Guided Audio of the Farm & Gardens using the Gesso app.

Built between 1652 and 1819, the Wyckoff House is the oldest house in New York City and state. The wooden house is an example of both the Flemish Medieval Survival style – evident in the building’s steep sloping roof – and the Dutch Colonial style – evident in its shingled walls, H-frame structure and split Dutch doors. The building is surrounded by a 1.5-acre park including a colonial style kitchen garden and urban farm. The self-guided audio tour will lead visitors through the history of the site, architecture of the building, and legacy of the founding family and their ties to the Native Lenape people and enslaved African Americans who once called this place home.

What to expect on your visit:

  • Drop in Self-guided audio tours from 11AM-3PM, recommend arriving by 2:15PM for last tour.
  • Farm Stand open from 11AM-3PM.
  • This is an outdoor experience so dress appropriately for the weather.
  • There are two Port-o-Sans available but no indoor restroom.
  • Masks and proof of vaccination will be required for all in-person experiences.

As of 9/8 the museum will be closed temporarily to the public due to damage sustained by flooding from Hurricane Ida. Updates regarding indoor access will be made closer to the event date.
