Build-a-Berm at the Wyckoff Urban Farm

July 18 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free
Join us, the MYA Group, and Samuel's Food Gardens as we build a beautiful berm on our historic property.

On July 18th from 10:00 am -12:00 pm, join the Wyckoff House Museum Farm staff, the MYA Group, and Samuel’s Food Gardens to build a beautiful berm around the perimeter of our property.

A berm is an important feature in permaculture design, created by layering natural materials like compost, leaves, mycelium, and wood to form a mound that follows the natural contours of the park.

In addition to being a lovely design element, berms have numerous ecological benefits. Berms slow stormwater runoff, improve water retention, improve soil quality, and provide habitat for native vegetation and animals. This project will play an important role in enhancing the park’s long-term sustainability.

No prior experience is necessary, just the desire to learn and willingness to get your hands in the soil. Tickets are not required to attend, but it’s always helpful to RSVP so we can plan projects accordingly.
