Cousins & Genealogy

In addition to operating the Wyckoff House Museum and Farm in Brooklyn, NY, the organization has helped connect Wyckoff cousins, no matter how you spell your name. Local chapters and annual reunions were a grand tradition for many decades. Today offer new ways to connect Wyckoff cousins who wish to share family stories, explore genealogy, and continue to support the organization.

Sustainers Circle

Our former Membership program is now called Wyckoff Sustainers Circle. Support our old reunion tradition!  Support from our Wyckoff cousins saved New York City’s oldest house from demolition nearly 90 years ago. Today, your contributions continue to support the preservation of the house and the innovative educational programs that educate thousands through the story of the Wyckoff family.

What to Share

Help keep our genealogical information current by sending important family events or new family members to our genealogist, including:

Births

Marriages

Deaths

  • Please be sure to include dates, places, and sources for events and new information when available. Material for the notes section is an important part of our Wyckoff heritage.
  • Additional information might include education, military service, occupation/career, special awards, personal characteristics, interesting events, or places of residence.

A Note about Past Research and Publications

Despite some published claims to the contrary, including fanciful suggestions that Pieter Claesen descended from Swedish nobility, there is no documented information regarding either his birth or parentage.

The Wyckoff Association’s fact-based history of Pieter starts with his arrival on this continent aboard the Renselaerwyck in 1637 where he was listed on the passenger list as Pieter Claesen of Norden (located in East Friesland).

Reunions

For more than 75 years, the Wyckoff Association has been hosted regular reunions to bring together Wyckoff descendants from all over the country.  These reunions were a great opportunity to meet cousins near and distant, network, socialize, and travel somewhere new.

Unfortunately our 2020 Reunion, which was planned in Kansas City was cancelled due to the pandemic. As we rebuild interest and the possibility of future reunions, we invite you to join our Sustainers Circle which includes monthly Cousins Calls on zoom. Connect with cousins, learn about shared topics of interest, and keep up with happenings at the Wyckoff House Museum and farm.
