School and Group Visits

Student and Youth Group Field Trips

Bring your class to one of our popular onsite field trip programs at the Wyckoff House and Farm. Programs focus on our unique student-centered and hands-on approach to learning. Students learn about the history of the site through inquiry and exploration.

  • On-site programs are offered Tuesday-Friday at 10:00am and 10:45am for up to 30 students per group, grades K-12.
  • Rates range from $100 to $300 per group of 30 students.

Popular Lesson Options

Colonial Life

Learn how a family of 13 lived in a single-room house through storytelling, inquiry, artifact investigation, images, and hands-on activities.

Biodiversity in the City

Students will use observation skills and the five senses to learn about the bounty of life on our farm in this interactive lesson.

Creative Composting

We will dig in and learn about the process of decomposition, play the compost sorting game, and explore our worm bin.

Summer Group Tours

Experience summer at the Wyckoff Farmhouse with our Down on the Farm program! Explore New York’s oldest house, learn about historic daily life through artifacts and games, and get your hands dirty with farm activities. Learn how plants grow and where our food comes from! This program can be adapted for K-12 audiences.

  • Cost: $5 per person for up to 60 people, including students and chaperones. ($75 minimum)
  • Availability: July-August, Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm 
  • Duration: 60 minutes, with option to extend 30 minutes with a hands-on activity
  • Hands-on activity add-ons: Butter churning, herbal sachet-making, wool felting, or quill pen writing. (Additional $2 per camper).

Group Tours for Adults

Explore the architecture, history, and culture of New York’s oldest house on a guided group tour. These tours are for adult groups with at least 10 people, generally last around one hour, and can be tailored to meet the interests and needs of your group.

Access Information

  • Guided tours include discussion and sensory experiences that can accommodate diverse learning needs. When you book your program, please write us to share any needs or preferences regarding your experience.
  • Our park, public restrooms, and Welcome Center building are wheelchair accessible. The historic house museum is partially wheelchair accessible. All tours enter through a ground-level door, and a portable ramp can be provided for access to the upper level of the home. We are unable to provide mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches etc.) at this time.
  • Our standard tours require extended periods of standing; If your group requires additional seating options, please let us know ahead of time.

University & College Groups

Discussion based tours of the Wyckoff House can be specifically designed to complement and reinforce professors’ class curricula. Tours can be adapted to accommodate the interests and focus of the individual class. Please write to us at programs@wyckoffmuseum.org to inquire further.

Create a free profile to browse tour options and available dates on Explorable Places, then select an available slot and enter your group information. Having trouble? Email us!

Wait to hear back from our staff. 
Once we have received your reservation request, we will review it and contact you with any clarifying questions!

Receive a confirmation and invoice.
Once reviewed, we will send you a confirmation e-mail and a digital invoice via PayPal for the full program fee.

Pay your invoice to secure your visit. 
Full payment of your program fee is due four weeks in advance of your scheduled trip date.
