Before or After your Visit

The Wyckoff Farmhouse is located on the border of East Flatbush and Canarsie neighborhoods. The surrounding neighborhood was mostly built up in he middle of the twentieth century. Today it is mainly made up of residential row houses and light industrial lots. The 1941 Brooklyn Terminal Market, New York City’s second largest produce market, is located a few short blocks away. One block to our North is Samuel J. Tilden high school, built in 1929.

If you are visiting with kids, you can stop by Harry Maze park on Avenue D between E. 56th and E. 57th street. Restaurant options are limited in the surrounding area. Enjoy popular Caribbean cuisine (famous for their Rasta Pasta) at Footprints Cafe next door or check out Suede for finer dining a few doors down. McDonalds is also nearby.

If you want to check out other local historic houses, we recommend the Lott House, which is not open to the public, but the grounds and exterior have been restored. It is worth a drive by as is the Wyckoff Bennet Homestead, which is a private home. You can also visit the Flatlands Dutch Reformed Church, founded in 1654 and where Pieter Wyckoff’s family was buried.
